Here’s what Table365 partners Kimberly and Sharon have to say:
I break out the seven days by planning four meals that I prepare, one day I leave open for inspiration (something that looks good at the market, I find a new recipe or someone in the family has a craving for something that’s not on the menu), one day is for leftovers and one day is for eating out or take-out.
My weekly plan looks something like this:
Sun: Inspiration – something that I found at the Farmers Market (a stocked pantry makes this much easier so I don’t need to run to the store for special ingredients)
Mon: Planned meal
Tues: Planned meal
Wed: Planned meal
Thurs: Planned meal
Fri: Restaurant or take-out
Sat: Leftovers (often on the weekends we eat lunch out so we don’t mind leftovers when we’ve already had a meal out earlier in the day)
My weekly meal plan looks a lot like Sharon’s. I usually plan four dinners a week and leave the other three nights for take-out (like pizza night), leftovers, and inspiration. For the purpose of my meal planning and grocery list template I do assign these meals to a specific night, but I usually end up moving meals around during the week depending on how my day goes.
