My latest find is a bit of an indulgence item since it is mainly something for me to eat. I love artichokes, especially the artichoke hearts. I occasionally make recipes that call for either frozen artichoke hearts, or marinated artichoke hearts in jars, but they aren’t items I would eat separately. So recently, when I spotted some vacuum-packed grilled artichoke hearts near the packaged, pre-chopped produce section at Whole Foods, I stuck them in my cart. I don’t buy them often, but for me they are definitely a treat! They are great alone, added to salads, or even over rice or quinoa.
I have been making a number of new finds at the grocery store since Anthony and I are now eating gluten-free. In addition to the gluten-free items, my only current cooking appliance is a microwave (due to our kitchen remodel), so I am also trying lots of frozen and prepared items. Here are a few of my favorite new finds: Amy’s frozen gluten-free wraps. I especially like the Indian and the Tofu Scramble. A family favorite (found at Costco) is the Tasty Bite 1-step 1-minute Madras Lentils. This packet of lentils, red beans and spices in a creamy tomato sauce is vegetarian, gluten free, no preservatives, no MSG, Kosher, and GMO free! It heats in the microwave in one minute, and I serve it on (microwaved, frozen) brown rice. I’ve been grateful to find these easy, tasty, and healthy prepared foods. I’ll keep them in my pantry even after we have a full working kitchen again.
