The find of the week: KITCHEN GIFTS FOR A FRESH NEW YEAR
It probably won’t surprise you that some of my favorite gifts are tools for the kitchen. This year was no exception. These were three highlights:
- I finally decided to put a Vitamix blender on my wish list after Kimberly’s great review and recipes. I’m looking forward to using it to make smoothies for nutritious and speedy breakfasts on school mornings.
- A large non-stick skillet. I had to retire my old skillet after the non-stick surface started wearing from use. I missed it for egg dishes and sautéing. It will be a good companion to my cast iron skillet.
- Specialty foods. It’s often hard to justify spending money on specialty foods like salts, spice blends, gourmet jams, and canned fish, so it’s a real treat to get them for gifts. I got a gorgeous jar of Italian anchovies (from Eataly in New York) that I am going to use for my favorite Caesar Salad.
Cheers to a delicious new year!
